developing a geo-location based alert system that helps guard ground workers from damaging existing underground infrastructure

While digging in developed areas, often existing infrastructure (such as gas lines, water mains or electricity lines) are damaged, resulting in high costs and delays.

The Geo alert app makes use of existing location infrastructure data to warn the digger that a pipe or cable is approaching by gathering this data and combining it with geo-location.

In order to increase the acceptance of the app with the diggers we tagged along with several diggers to understand how they work. This allowed us to create an app that does not get in the way of their tasks but assists them when necessary.
